The Bateaux Dubai’s Executive Chef, Tunji Oladipo has a passion for exceptional food. Having already enjoyed a colourful life, Tunji Oladipo exudes a lustrous flair wherever he goes. His upbringing in London, where he was born and later on worked, plays a big part in his daily culinary performances, and several years in Nigeria and the Middle East add an exotic and effervescent touch to his creations. At the age of seven, he baked his first cake from a recipe in one of his mother’s old Canadian cookbooks, and Tunji Oladipo hasn’t looked back since. He worked with some of the culinary world’s most extraordinary personalities in restaurants where the dinner guests included celebrities and royalty. Like most chefs, Tunji is an artist at heart, and displays an aptitude for drawing and painting. In both his free time and career he strives for perfection, but strangely enough he does not believe in signature dishes: “By focusing on one signature dish, you limit yourself with what you can do, and subsequently also limit the experience of your guests. For me cooking is about using the best produce available, and finding creative ways to enhance flavours without destroying the beauty or character of Nature at her best.”
